N95 mask
I believe the N95 are only for dust particulate and will not absorb the flu type viruses.
You need a biomask for viral type airborne diseases.

Yes and no. I thought the same, but while viruses are really, really, puny, often they are transmitted through far larger water droplets. Any, the claim is out there that N95 masks are one of the essentials for virus protection, but obviously not the best, by far.
A N95 mask will filter out viruses. Although I think in one test of 900 people, only 25% had a proper fit.
However, the mask is also a reminder not to touch your face with your hands, so it is helpful.
Goggles are important too. The surface tension of the moisture on your eyeballs will attract the small particles of virus suspended for hours in the air. And then take them a short distance to the nasal passages.
I have to go to Costco tomorrow. I’m not sure I’m up for the face mask and swim goggles yet. Maybe I’ll bring them with me.
My son saw a person downtown (Seattle) that had a full face respirator on. (Not the most foolish of ideas actually. $200 for a decent one on Amazon).
