A major problem with wind and solar is a night with little wind. You then have next to no power. So you need virtually 100% quick reacting backup sources. Now you are maintaining two systems. If you start adding back ups like batteries, you then get three systems to maintain.
I believe that a fundamental issue common among Leftists in particular is that they simply do not understand complex systems that will tend to experience diminishing returns the harder you push on them trying to get them to do their thing.
This is true if its failing to understand how pilot programs are not representative of real programs if only because there can be a significant difference between doing something vs nothing, never mind that pilot programs are often staffed by the more competent, creative and motivated, have organizational flexibility etc or failing to understand how some farmers cheap windmill doing good work doesnt translate over to a huge and expensive wind farms everywhere where once his farm was.
Failing to understand complex systems they feel no twinge of awareness when they constantly push ever more complex solutions.
Reality is not part of their plan.
