Sometimes you have to consider the source. Some people don’t mean to be demeaning, and I might use the wrong word (or not think of the exact word I want) and the listener means to be helpful. But you have a point, that some people, especially liberals, tend to be arrogant jerks.

In physical conversation, I tend not to correct people if they use the wrong word...only if there’s some confusion about the word and what they want (plywood vs OSB for example). I think the other person is usually embarrassed when they’re corrected, and I shy away from offending people. There’s slight embarrassment for me when somebody corrects me. I also realize, as I get older, it’s harder to find the right words, so I’m more than willing to overlook other’s incorrect word choices.
