Agreed. They were called “universities” because they were to be taught a wide variety of subjects to make them well-rounded logical human beings by the time they graduated. Now they’re just pagan leftist indoctrination centers that for the most part reject logic and instead embrace emotionalism. It’s the worst sort of child abuse to send one’s children off to one of these logic-free zones. Most exit college as emotionally crippled agnostics/atheists who may or may not respond to deprogramming.

I have an aunt and uncle in their 80s, very dear to me, two wise and wonderful people. Their children went to college, and their grandchildren now attend college. If I tried to tell them what you said -- and I completely agree with you -- they would never understand. They'd be hurt, and feel insulted. They simply cannot imagine not doing everything in their power to get those grandkids through college. (Not one of them in any STEM field.)
The need for a college education is an article of faith to most people. They don't question it. You are lucky if you can get them to understand the question.
