For critical patients the corona-virus becomes the least of their problems. By that point they are battling the underlying issues.

At the Chinese Virus Press Conference yesterday I think they said the company that manufactures this donated 3 million doses.

Not sure if that meant 3 million pills, or what.

Yes, shortages already. I read earlier an Israeli company is shipping a lot of it to the US. And Bayer is making a lot of it available for free.

They will need to ramp up production, but the process and infrastructure is already there. They do have some things to do to roll it out, including verifying the tests and studies that are going on now. There really isn’t any reason they can’t just do it, it’s already approved and we know a lot about the drug’s effects, toxicity, etc. Should happen fast and I expect they aren’t holding back for a few ‘t’s to be crossed and ‘i’s to be dotted.

On the other hand, if there are flaws in the studies or other issues, they won’t want to present false hope.

Chloroquine has been manufactured around the world for ages. I started taking it for malaria well over 50 years ago.

Years ago I would have guess that there were billions and billions of tablets on pharmacy shelves and in bathroom medicine cabinets around the world.

Eventually, chlorine-resistant malaria developed, so other medicines came to be used for both prophylaxis and treatment.

Also, you need to come off of chloroquine every 10 years or so, otherwise blindness may develop.

One 500mg per week for prophylaxis. If you contracted malaria, 6 for treatment the first day, followed by 2 per day for three more days. Take them with food and do not lie down for a while after taking.
