Property taxes suck! I owe a few houses in a city I don’t live in... And I can’t vote in that city. Talk about taxation without representation.

You’re assessed tax based on how much you earned for the year, right? Since they’re presumably sending you a stimulus check, then they will undoubtedly tax that also, as part of your income. Just like they assess tax on unemployment insurance as part of your income.

Income tax is income tax to the fed govt, so yeah, you’re on the hook for it. If you don’t make income they can’t tax you at all. If you do, even if they give you that income, then they can and they will tax you.
