He said he used to experience loss of sensation in his body below the waist along with various spasms in his lower limbs as he lay in bed among with other things. Went to multiple DR’s. over several years. No one could figure it out. It slowly got so bad he thought he was going crazy and was contemplating suicide. By chance he stumbled across a write up about Lyme and out of desperation asked his DR to test for it.
BINGO. He came back positive. His son did also but since the son was younger and had a stronger immune system he didn't present with symptoms yet. The treatment was surprisingly simple. A course of common antibiotics. The disease can run on for years and can cause irreparable damage.
Its named for Lyme Connecticut where it was first discovered. The causative organism as its known has been around since the 19th century. It really showed up in 1975 in its modern form. Coincidentally just off shore is Plum Island a military bio-weapons research station.
He offered the help during the interview with some corona survivors...he quipped with the fake news folks that he didn’t know if it was legal or not and what did they think he should do...
I have had it twice.
The rash and all that. The rash I had both times are the classic circle bulls eye with the dot in the middle.
The Dr never even tested for it. Simply prescribed the penicillin. The test were unreliable then.
BTW..I think I have seen where it is not longer just the deer tick that can infect a person.
Save the last 15 years, I lived in the South Central UP of MI and North Eastern WI.
