Point of fact: Teddy was no Conservative. He was the Republican wing of the Progressive political movement and instituted a number of progressive big government moves.
However, on the deeper side of it, the original Capitalist - Adam Smith - was no fan of monopolies; seeing in them how a necessity of the free enterprise system, competition, was stifled or frozen out by monopolies.

Many see Teddy as a hero and great American President while totally ignoring the fact he was a progressive. An early day RINO of sorts.
However I do not see him as outright traitorous as Romney or McCain.
