Oh no
So sorry
This is a great idea.
(Nope, haven’t had it and know no one who has.)
Some relatives had it. Worst case is in her early 50s-fatigue, loss of breath, pink eye, rash etc. Had it for 8 weeks. Told me she could feel the disease spreading in her body.
Next case is a woman in her mid-thirties-loss of breath and fatigue. She kept teleworking the entire couple of weeks.
Next case is a male college student. He mainly had a low grade fever for a couple of months. Finished the semester with on-line classes. Graduated magna cum laude.
I would ask for a cardiac workup. A lot of folks have ongoing heart issues after infection. Fatigue is the most common lingering COVID long hauler complaint. Do not allow the fact that you might not have tested positive for the latest virus of the week blind you to the fact you may be sick with something else possibly even more serious.
Some medical people are acting like if it is not the KungFlu you are fine. There are the normal flu's, bronchitis and even whooping cough still around.
Your test came back negative? Great. Now they need to find out what it actually is. You might have to push. Go ahead. Push hard. Your illness matters even if it is not the current popular virus.
I dont feel hard hit, even though I know 5 personally who have had it. 2 were over 85 and succumbed. Also they were in assisted living where their governors sent CoVid positive patients back to their facilities. What a crime that was!
As an aside, I came down with a fever and a cough in mid-May. I have seasonal allergies, and a little cough is usually part of my normal in the Spring when pollen abounds in the Midwest. I dont usually get a fever, or at least, I dont think I do. I dont typically take my temperature unless I feel sick, but because of CoVid and promises to my kids, I took my temperature every so often with the lockdowns. Im 60 but in excellent health, but my kids were worried that I was in a high risk group. I have no comorbidities. At any rate, I felt completely fine. I never felt like I had a fever, though the thermometer said I did. It ranged from a high of 102 to usually between 99.7 and 101.5 for 6 days.
On day 4 I decided to go for a CoVid test just in case. It came back negative the next day, but they wanted me to quarantine for 10 days anyway. Not fun when you dont feel sick at all, but I did it for my fellow human beings.
Since then, I have wondered about the masks and precautions, etc. I masked up with an N95 that is meant for construction work. I take zinc, vitamin D3, Vitamin C, and a multi vitamin everyday. I am a thorough hand washer and decontaminated every surface. In my younger years, I worked in labs with all sorts of germs, both bacteria and viruses on a daily basis. My old training kicked in, so I dont think that was any problem for me. This is the thing. If it was CoVid, all those precautions didnt prevent me from catching it. I think I can truthfully say, if it wasnt CoVid, it was another summertime virus that has been hovering around for years and years. My point is, it reinforced the idea that these masks cannot protect us, these precautions of social distancing and hand washing, cannot protect us 100%. We will still get bugs from time to time. Is it worth shutting down for? Not a chance in hell.
This is only my opinion. I know its not worth much. I dont expect to convince anyone that these precautions are useless. They might help. However, I cannot go to the idea that these precautions are anything other than feel-good behaviors that have little scientific merit. Corona viruses are so teeny tiny that these homemade masks are just a form of compliance to an authority. In the case of Dr. Fauci, hes an authority we didnt elect, and he is way too compromised by conflicts of interest.
Its ok if you disagree with me. I know I wont change your mind. I know you wont change my mind. Please dont bother trying. Im over all this masking business. Rip off the bandaid. Lets get on with this.
As of today 124 deaths from Covid-19 in my State (Maine).
I knew 4 of them.
Three of them elderly (in their 80s). Two of them were in elderly housing.
One of them 49 with underlying illness and had been deep into drugs most of her life.
Don’t know what I had at the end of January, but I was coughing for 5 weeks.
I should add that these 4 deaths happened in march and april and one of them early may. Other than those 4 deaths I knew of a few younger adults (friends of family) that tested positive and got over it.
I had it in early April. Bad chills, overnight fever spike with unreal night sweats, lost sense of smell, bloody phlegm, fatigue. Whoever said it just a cold is lying to you. Fact is, we all bicker over and politicize this bug and whenever someone around me starts on the “shoulda/coulda” with respect to Trump I point out he was the first to ban travel from China and that we should be placing all blame squarely on the CCP.
I live in Aiken County, South Carolina. SC is one of the ‘hot spots’ right now. The following figures are from the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) web site.
This county has had 1,664 confirmed cases and 26 deaths. In my zip code (I live out in the country) we’ve had 60 cases, don’t know the death count.
I don’t know anyone who’ve had the China virus. None of my friends know anyone either.
For what it’s worth.
Dude...you are technically right, but Staten Island is to New York City as is Appetite for Destruction is to Guns ‘N Roses.
A Couple that we know caught it from their Son-in-Law. They don’t know where he caught it.
They said the guy was not too badly affected. Just a day or two and then he was feeling okay. The wife had it a bit worse especially the cough. She felt pretty bad for about 3 days then slowly got better. After 10 days they were back doing stuff in public.
My friend Keven is in the ICU with Covid. He has been off and on a ventilator since July 29. This article has a lot of information about what he is going through. He is a sweet teddy bear of a guy and we are worried sick about him. He could use everybody’s prayers
Im well aware. Ive been pushing. Im ticked off at the GI now because he seems to be ignoring me since last weeks televisit...before the ER wherein they only found inflamed colon...tip back to GI. There is MUCH more to this story but Ive been boring enough.
IM terrified Im getting hit with leukemia or something.
Its a total fraud. Just the FLU , BRO !
Medical people are just as prone to following fashion and fads as anyone else.
Ill pray for him, but I want to encourage you, too. One of our college buddies was hospitalized in March with CoVid. He is 59 or 60. Kevins path reminds me very much of our friends path. The difference is that our friend fought going on the ventilator and he felt like that saved him. I mentioned him in my post #6 on this thread. He also went through most all of the classic Covid symptoms. The doctors are figuring out much more about this and are developing treatments that are helpful. I pray that your friend recovers soon.
Other than that, we personally know five people who had it. Of those two were very sick but survived.
So sorry to hear this! Diabetes can be a real rough background for that, though.
