The republic may survive but it will take on a much different form at some point. There are stark, irreconcilable differences in this country. One side wants freedom and liberty; the other demands absolute power and control. Co-exisiting is becoming more difficult by the day in the absence of law and order. Something will have to give eventually. A long ordeal awaits us.
I think that this is a good idea. Trump could take a hard line (”shoot the bastards!” as some suggest) but that would cost him the (re)election.
He should make the rules crystal clear, and then prosecute them (the rules). And he should take the offenders out of the game - ideally for the duration leading up to the election.
