My wife found some old “poems” of mine from high school. “Love Letters” to long-forgotten girls that I never sent.
“How come you never write me any poems?”
“That was high school! I was just a stupid kid!!”
“Well - I’d like a poem someday.”
Right there I grabbed a scrap of paper and scrawled one out.
“Roses are red
daisies are yellow.
I love you more
than mixed fruit Jello.”
That was the first and only poem I ever wrote for her. (She still has it somewhere after 30+ years!)
Okra doesn’t can well and just a few plants produce more than one family can eat. So, you wind up giving it away or throwing it away because it will turn hard and stop producing if you don’t continue to harvest it. Freeze drying is the best method I’ve found for keeping it on hand during the time of year when it’s out of season.
