Oh boy, sure to bring out the Eeyores this morning, eh?

I appreciate people who can maintain optimism in the face of overwhelming adversity. If you look at the the whole of human history, misery and evil have ruled for much longer stretches than what we have seen in the last 100-200 years.

Life isn't like Hollywood. The good guys don't always win. Often, the bad guys triumph through sheer power of will. I want to win this, I want Trump to win this, but he's one man against a globalist cabal.

“ Oh boy, sure to bring out the Eeyores this morning, eh?”

Hangover thread?

We have. Constitutional republic. Sometimes it has to be defended. People need to put down the mood altering substances and get with it.

“Oh boy, sure to bring out the Eeyores this morning, eh?”

A question for the optimist: How many optimists were among the 50 Million or so murdered by the Commies in the 20th Century?

...Eeyores...
_____
As someone who has been accused of being Pollyanna, I have to at least nod to the Eeyores.

Just look at the calm among the progs as they continue divvying up the cultural and financial and other spoils of stolen and appropriated power.

This is precisely what they desire and they are just peachy-keen with it. They have no memory of freedom and despise it.
Those who applaud their theft of power will continue as long as they can afford the trappings they associate with the Good Life.

Thinking about it, it devolves down to utter irresponsibility.

No community, just virtual affinity groups you can dip in and out of.

No family, just quickly-dissolved zipless f***s and all the chemical and surgical erasures of progeny available.

No real experiences, just a panoply of ways to alter consciousness.

No morality, just empty virtue signals that require nothing more than a collection of slogans.

No personal growth except the accumulation of likes for artfully filtered cellphone pics taken on a closely-cropped set and displayed on an approved platform.

No intellectual wrestling with ideas and philosophy, just the appropriation of marketed content squeezed of every vestige of actual critical thought.

No knowledge of events and their consequences that hasn’t been massaged and predigested before being released in the same form as all digested sustenance, albeit polished & deodorized to perfection. Worse, an inculcated aversion to any raw or opposing perceptions that sends the recipients into catatonic fits of denial.

No artistic skills requiring practice, refinement and critique, just templates to fill, boxes to check and programed filters to apply. Sight and sound collages manipulated with predetermined programs, homage to 3rd-tier re-recreations, words arranged according to political dictates and consumed like unbuttered, unsalted popcorn to fill interior voids and looming stretches of time spent, by agreed diktat, under house arrest.

No property to maintain and eventually own as an asset or collateral, just a series of neutral rental spaces quickly decorated with featureless boxes and barely maintained, ranked by proximity to pricey public spaces and valued for shared amenities.

No God, just petty deities dispensing baubles in exchange for meaningless ritual at the level of a yoga class.

Perpetual children outsourcing their lives to virtual simulations that include those sitting in committee and making decisions for the rest.

If you reference the ways of our shared past, even just those of the past 30 years, the response is a dull boredom. a perfunctory condescension and, mostly, incomprehension.

This generation has no interest in anything more than a week in duration or related to anything except their own appetites and image.

The author is right: we will not recover. A majority have no concept of recovering, anyway. They are thrilled to turn their backs on all the past and march in concert into the abyss. They disregard the concept of a future.

Just think: it took until the 1200s for the secondary rulers (barons) to make a contract with the monarchs for a few rights and privileges.

In the next 400 years, there were finally some acknowledgements of the idea of rights for the common human being.

It took another 125 years to achieve the US Constitution and around double that time for the old feudal ways to reassert themselves.

I do wonder how long this incarnation of bondage will last?
