This is an email that I received from Jody Hice on December 4th.

Where is the Justice Department?

Dear Friends,
All Americans expect our elections to be free and fair. Fighting for the integrity of our elections isn’t and shouldn’t be a partisan, political issue. In the wake of the November elections, unfortunately, millions of Americans have lost confidence in that system. Our nation is in turmoil – and it will remain so until we can restore people’s faith in our elections.

Nowhere is this more true than right here in Georgia. I have spoken with hundreds of Georgians who have deep concerns – and I wholly share their frustration and disappointment. Regardless of their politics, Georgians, like all Americans, want three straightforward things: free and fair elections; honest counts of legal ballots; and rigorous investigations of fraud and irregularities.

From the Governor and Secretary of State to the entire State Legislature and all the county elections officials, elected officials in Georgia have a huge amount of work to do to root out the fraud, correct the mistakes, and ensure this never happens again.

With that being said, however, there is a clear role here for the U.S. Department of Justice. Here is just one example. Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has opened investigations into liberal groups like Stacey Abrams’ New Georgia Project for allegedly registering illegal voters to sway the outcome of the two Senate runoff races currently underway. If true, these liberal groups are in clear violation of multiple federal laws.

This week, I joined dozens of fellow House Republicans in calling on U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr to act aggressively and swiftly to take action in Georgia and elsewhere in the country. Every single illegal ballot dilutes and diminishes the voice of a rightful, legal voter. We do not have months or years to leisurely poke and prod at these allegations. We cannot wait on the slow bureaucrat machinery to catch up to the wrongdoing that is potentially happening in real-time on the ground. A second critical election is taking place in just four weeks in Georgia that will decide the balance of power in the United States Senate.

On behalf of my constituents and all Georgians, I implore the Attorney General to take aggressive and speedy action NOW. Again, this isn’t a partisan political issue. Addressing the seemingly countless allegations of fraud and irregularities impacts the future of the entire country, not just one political party or the other.
