Hopefully, it doesn’t happen. Hopefully, we are never forced into a bad situation that requires us to rely on a firearm. However, if it ever does come to that, you need to know that you have the tools to put food on the table, keep predators at bay, and defend what is yours.
Thankfully, some of these tools are already available to you. I’ve put together a list of five of the most popular utility guns that are reliable, durable, and available on the market. When the going gets tough, these guns will not let you down, and they won’t break the bank either.

The Mini-14 in .223 is no longer a viable option since a 5.56mm AR-15 is the same price these days.
A neighbor showed me his Taurus Judge recently. I’d hate to be on the business end of that thing....nasty.
Gun writers have to write.
Is there also a “Five Best Places You Can Actually Buy Ammo For The Five Best Guns” site ?
Gun bloggers have to blog.
This is info that I need.

The thing about the sound a shotgun makes when you rack it....that’s only in the movies I think. LoL
After 20 Jan 2021 they will have to learn how to code ...
The .22cal. the 12ga. learn how to make black powder and have lots of books on wild eatables...
Right, the best gun for the job now is the one that you can find bullets for it.
How about a Gamo air rifle for squirrels and such?
“On the Fifth day
of Christmas,,,”
.
I can dream.
My Acadamy sports is still carrying .223 or 5.56 in limited quantities. Just gotta get there early and only allowed 3 boxes of 20......I take my wife and she buys 3 boxes also. Better than nothing.
This is kinda funny. I have seven guns, but don’t enjoy shooting. And I inherited four of them when my father died last summer.
But they are basically on that list. I did the same thought process the author did, and applied it when we bugged out of Seattle to the 32 acres in rural Kentucky 9 years ago.
SKS - equivalent to the .223 he mentioned as far as usage. ‘
Remington 870 shotgun for “short range” power.
30.06 with a scope for food if necessary.
.380 with very deadly rounds for in the car. (it was all I could afford)
.22 with a scope for varmints (we have chickens to protect)
And then from my dad:
Ruger 1022 with scope and a bunch of high capacity magazines.
SKS (another one) with a bunch of high capacity magazines.
Glock 15 with seven magazines, two of which hold 32 rounds.
Mossberg 930 semi-auto shotgun with pistol grip.
Fotunately my dad also had about 40,000 rounds of ammo and I was able to acquire about a third of it (I have siblings).
But I honestly don’t really need any more guns and could probably sell the .380, but my wife really likes it in her bed stand when I’m not home.
And now I have enough ammo to actually get proficient in the use of these weapons, and the property on which to practice.
If I lived in a city I would be very depressed right now. I’d probably be looking for a place somewere in Kentucky or Wyoming. :)

**************
One advantage the Mini-14 has over the AR-15 is; the AR-15 will likely be put on the Dems ban list. The Mini-14 perhaps not.
Excellent..! I have an old Sheridan Blue Streak that works like magic on squirrels.. :)
Forget about a Judge. Hundreds of better handgun choices.
ALL guns will be in the ban list at some point soon.
