Civil rights is constitutional rights for all Americans. That was 1964. The Great Society was the war on poverty...1965. The war on poverty was communism American style. Communism is evil. How complicated does it have to be to see the truth?! You do not have to examine each and every tree to realize that the forest is what it is...Either individual freedom or communism. Either an ant colony or freedom. Slavery or freedom.
That's actually another point that puzzles me. I grew up during the Cold War, and whatever the Iron Curtain was or was not, it was most certainly socially conservative. Khrushchev didn't wear a dress. Todor Zhivkov didn't pick "trans" people for his advisers. Wladislaw Gomulka didn't go around flinging bombs at Warsaw.
Furthermore the old Communists were very patriotic. As a matter of fact, the Communist world routinely used the word "patriotic" and "patriots" to designate the Communist side in any conflict. And their fanatical nationalism for third world peoples cannot be ignored.
And the old Communists most certainly didn't hate the countries they ruled. They didn't burn its flag. Todor Zhivkov didn't go around yelling "Death to Bulgaria!" And they most certainly all had police and military forces. And at this very moment socially conservative Communist states are being supported by western nihilists who make no demands for nihilism of them. Where are China's or Venezuela's "trans" people?
It is most puzzling (at first) that the Left throughout the world would pick as its primary enemy, target, and bete noire a government that arose through a revolution at the time of the "Enlightenment." If you go back and read how Benjamin Franklin was feted by the radical chic in France you will learn that it was we who were the "noble savages" and "indigenous pipples" that all "right thinking people" supported. Saint-Simone, one of the original founders of socialism, came with French troops to fight for us. There wouldn't even be a Left today without the American Revolution.
Yet it is always and only America that they all hate on. They behave like old time foreign professional wrestling "heels" working the crowd. And every power with which America comes into conflict is supported to the nines, be it a new age vegetarian utopia or a restored Attila the Hun.
Now I know that you young folks automatically shout that it's because America is the special chosen nation (despite being founded so relatively recently) and naturally all the forces of ee-vil are against it. But really? You all know there are far more "reactionary" and "oppressive" places in the world. To say that the US is G-d's special chosen chrstian country is like saying the KJV is the one and only Bible. Anyone get it?
I don't just see the stereotypical evil flag burning scum, but some on the right who are their mirror reflections, practically insisting that the Constitution was Divinely inspired. I now recognize that what I've been seeing all my life is a two-winged philosophy. I now see two sides of one counterfeit coin. And I now believe that what we must reject is not merely one "wing" but the entire dualistic system.
And no, this doesn't mean that I hate my country or any such thing, though I recognize that there were definitely some subversive elements involved in its creation, as is true for all modern countries.
