One reason I know this stuff is I was there and saw it myself. History writers write from a point of view. I remember from a point of view of I was there.

Just for an instance, I took 2 years of German back in High School and the teacher kept emphasizing that Hitler was a Left Wing Socialist. He told us the translation of NAZI was "National Socialist Workers Party". The rest of my life The Left has called Hitler "Right Wing". They uniformly say dictators are all "Right Wing". Castro, Stalin, and a dozen more have all been Left Wing Socialists because to be a dictator, you necessarily believe in government control of everything. Stalin and Hitler actually got along until Hitler decided he wanted Russia. Hitler's government controlled all businesses and Germans had NO freedom.

It's amazing how a meme can get started and grow more solid as time goes on. Unless of course you remember it different.

I grew up with "Colored Only" signs everywhere as a child, but 100% of politicians were Democrats. Now I'm supposed to believe Republicans were the KKK and invented Jim Crow and are bad people. Was Lincoln a Democrat and the Confederacy a bunch of Republicans? How do so many Democrats remember it different? Most of this isn't rocket science. The old Soviet Union said it was due to useful idiots.
