Right, RC. Impeachment is a purely political process. It has nothing to do with criminal law, logic, fairness, or anything like that.

Benjamin Franklin even once remarked that a president could be impeached just for being rude. Now, can a president be impeached (and convicted) even when he’s out of office? That’s truly a gray area. I guess the Supreme Court will have to decide that one.
