Exactly. Any “mostly peaceful” protest may turn violent at a moment’s notice. Multiple people trying to stop/detain you, remove you from the safety of your vehicle - that is grounds to reasonably fear for your life. At least in my state, being reasonably in fear for your life is justification for using deadly force. Given the history of hospitalizations and deaths at these “mostly peaceful” protests I’d say the fear is reasonable.

I think there is probably an expiration date on the public toleration of a government that doesn’t get it together to deal with endless disruptions as there is also a point at which being called a racist will stop having the desired effect. People will eventually get tired of the endless drama, harms, and lack of functionality just like they will get tired of endlessly being someone else’s whipping boy.
I do see the Immigration issue swamping this for better or worse. People are going to want to move on and meet the new neighbors who don’t hate them or call them racist. What do you do when everything on tv is woke? You turn off the tv and talk to your neighbors. You might also find yourself deliriously happy to find that those new neighbors aren’t “woke.”
While I hope the protestor wasn’t killed...
