I refuse to believe that the NSA could not figure out where this came from. They could do this and send a murder squad to kill them all. That is what will stop this.
I also support the death penalty for anyone releasing a computer virus. I would happily flip the switch, pull the trigger, spring the trapdoor, whip the draft horses, spin the breakers wheel, pull the guillotine cord... you name it.
There is a bigger plan involving more than a mere barrel of oil or gallon of gas. The NSA must know not only all that has occurred, but how upcoming twists and turns will escalate this mess... compounding all the other messes.
They almost certainly know by now who the perpetrators are.
The perpetrators almost always are based in a foreign country and have the protection of their local governments. either through bribery of officials or explicit policy sanction. "Everybody" in their local scene knows who they are.
It takes very nasty and covert diplomatic efforts to get them - or overt acts of war.
The Biden-Harris administration is incapable, and possible unwilling, to succeed at either option. These are the people who "Never let a crisis go to waste". They don't solve a crisis.
If NSA employees have gone woke, they probably can't even reboot a computer.
