The ultimate tell as to the death numbers is total deaths. Total deaths in 2020 grew by over 18% over 2019. Suicides and traffic accident fatalities were down. Heart disease deaths were slightly up, but by a few thousand; not 523,000. Cancer deaths were right at normal levels. Drug overdose deaths were up slightly, but a 20% increase there accounts for about 14,000; not 523,000. Other causes of death were at or just slightly above normal levels, but the ones mentioned above are the biggies.
The numbers just don’t add up without about 500,000 COVID-19 deaths in 2020. Lo and behold! The numbers do actually match.

perhaps; but if there is one thing history has always, and will always teach us, is that those who count the numbers sometimes do so in inscrutable ways...
