Vacation Bible School has been a beloved summer pastime for children across America for generations.
Boys and girls look forward to a week of Bible stories, interactive songs, arts and crafts and of course, Hydrox cookies and fruit punch. What’s not to love about VBS?
Honestly, the only people who could be remotely offended by Vacation Bible School would be a bunch of godless, heathen atheists.
And that brings me to an incident that occurred at Fort Sill in Oklahoma.
Military leaders ordered soldiers to remove a banner promoting Vacation Bible School at the base’s Frontier Chapel. The banner, which had been posted to a fence outside the main gate, declared, “Jesus Pulls Us Through.”
The banner had reportedly triggered individuals associated with the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, an organization known for waging campaigns against nativity scenes on military bases.

Because kids NEVER want to be just let alone.
A significant number of kids, from toddlers to teens, look forward to and enjoy vacation Bible school, known by the acronym VBS. Our small church draws about 60-70 kids each year into our five day VBS program. For some kids and families, this is their first church experience. Every year some children in VBS are positively changed forever when they accept Jesus as their savior. Well run VBS programs are joyful, noisy, active and fun, all based around a theme for the week and sound Biblical teaching.

I loved going to bible school. We would all get the parts we would play for the church Christmas play. My last time there I was picked to be the narrator.
The darkness hates the light. Biblical history shows a form of judgement is the weakening of a nation’s defenses, woman and children become “ rulers”, a crumbling of a nation’s economy, ...I can go on, but it is becoming all to clear....Christians- prepare for persecution.
Sounds like you had an unfortunate experience that lasted a lifetime. For some children, VBS is the first and sometimes only time they learn about Jesus. . . Savior of the World . . . and Savior of your soul. Consider the alternative. . . an everlasting hell. I vote for Bible School . . . the kids love it where I come from. As the the week or long weekend progresses there are usually more in attendance.

Absolutely right, Gunner. Every summer I had to give up the first two weeks of vacation for that mess. All my friends wondered what I did wrong to have to go.
