Exactly, how did we ever survive before they started putting chips into cars?I used a "gun" to time my car and adjust the points. I seldom brought the car in for service because of a dash light. All in all, I spent tens of thousands less in maintenance and had a great ride the entire time.

If your car/truck has points, it likely does NOT have a "check engine" or "Service soon" dashlight, an oil light when things are REALLY bad, maybe an idiot light for the generator (in GM) or to supplement the heat gauge.
