“A time traveler from the year 2036 said so.”
LOL, John Titor!
I think a lot of people forgot, or never knew of that little episode.
My Husband passed away and I filed “jointly” because he had received a small amount after his death. My return was returned quickly and needed to be refiled because they had already cancelled his SS #. I’ve heard nothing since refiling.
Still waiting!
Exactly. What is this “tax refund” of which we are speaking?
Same here. Waiting 3 months now.
I got mine back in early April.
My daughter had to call and ask where hers was and she was told due to COVID, they are very far behind. It has been five months since this was submitted. They said to give it another 30 days and to call back if she has not received it.
Also, child tax credit is still “pending” and she asked about that status and they said that is another department.
Who wants to be on hold for at least a few hours just to find out the answer, if any?
Last year I filed an amended return for tax year 2018. A sizable chunk because I reported as income funds that taxes were already paid on. A mistake. It’s been a year and the IRS site reports not yet processed.
If you are owed a refund, will they issue it with interest since they are holding your money?
Helped my brother with his, and his refund finally came around the 4th of July. I think the return was sent around the first of March.
I think that the IRS people are quite busy with all the Covid stimulus payments (because, for 3 payments, they could not just process all 3 the same way??) and then they are also being charged with the important job of sending out cash payments to everyone with kids, at $300-$350 per kid per month, starting this month. So that is probably taking priority over squaring up with TAXPAYERS.
Actually my brother got a bit of interest on his refund. The check came a couple weeks ago.
It’s getting beyond ridiculous how long people must wait to receive their money.
Glad your brother received his refund.
I got my 2019 and 2020 refund about two weeks after filing electronically (thank you H&R Block). Guess I’m blessed.
Ha! Should they? yes. Will they? Hell no.
Not picking on anyone, BUT if you’re getting a tax ‘refund’ you are giving your own hard-earned cash to Mother Government, interest FREE, for an entire year, so she can fund abortions, wars, perform fraudulent elections, aid in gun grabbing, send checks to the lazy and shiftless and pay CongressCritters!
Starve The Beast - in any way that you can!
If they simplified the tax code or maybe a flat tax there would be a lot less hassles dealing with this asinine IRS. I blame Republicans more because when they had majorities in the past it was the optimal opportunities to get this done but of course they didn’t. Every year we have to deal with filing, paying the CPA’s, getting reemed to pay up the extortion fees, errr taxes. I despise it with every fiber of my being.
Spot on.
Exactly, I love how people somehow think that because they got a nice refund check, they’re “sticking it to the government”, when in fact the government stuck it to them the whole time.
That happened to my Mom after her husband passed, too! Not to discourage you, but it took her over a year to get her refund. I seem to remember she was already filing taxes for the year AFTER he died when it was finally resolved. She had to get her lawyer involved. :(
Fingers crossed for you. Mother Government always adds insult to injury, doesn’t she? Jerk!
Same here. Perhaps the delays are associated with paper filers? Dunno.
