I've played this same scenario around in my mind many times, it's why I get as much range time as I can. If someone pulls a gun and/or points it at you, several things will go through your mind and it'll happen fast.
First, your adrenaline will kick in immediately, you should then be reaching for your firearm by muscle memory, assessing your surroundings and aiming and firing at center of mass until the threat stops, remembering that you own each round that comes out of the barrel.
I hope I'm never faced with the situation but I'm ready if it happens.
Can you carry in a movie theatre? I thought some states outlawed that.
I don’t care. I don’t go to movie theatres but some people do.
Situational awareness. It sounds like the mark saw the perp approaching and drew his weapon in plenty of time to aim and fire, not waiting for the perp to be on top of him leaving no time to respond. When in sketchy situations, draw your weapon and hold it alongside of your leg until the situation passes.
I’m betting the aggressor believed in Hollywood theatrics.
Show the gun and everyone is frightened.

From what I see the District Attorney is a (D). I didn’t dig any deeper than that.
In my county the DA likes to wait a while for the interest to die down and then throw as many petty charges as she can think of.

Good point, and the trajectory of that bullet could easily get you in trouble. So no ‘anchoring shots’ in that situation.

The dead perp was Travis Prince, 22 years old, a black male, formerly of Oklahoma City.
Despite efforts to scrub social media his pictures and criminal record are still out there..
Very low probability of recidivism too.
