Within 15-20 miles from me. At 10:30 am, wife and I heard a very loud explosion. It shook the walls and windows. No rumble, or follow through, just one very loud bang. Makes sense it was a sonic boom. Sounded like someone setting off dynamite on the mountain above us. Was heard in a forty square mile radius that is filled with valleys and mountains. This from maybe a five pound rock.
Rest assured, if the “big one” ever hits again, and you are close by . . . You won't know it.

All space debris (meteors, asteroids, etc) enters the atmosphere at at least 25,000 mph, which is about Mach 32, so yeah, it's going to make a sonic boom. But they usually burn up while they're still high enough in the atmosphere that the 'boom' never reaches the ground.
