Comparing a Lcpl to any of my junior sailors it was obvious that the Lcpl was head and shoulders above the sailor in discipline.
Go into any marine barracks and you will see cleanliness and orderliness is is maintained by the Lcpl’s and Cpl’s. The sgt’s and S/Sgt’s rarely needs to get involved because the junior enlisted know they will be held accountable if they don’t maintain discipline and cleanliness.
Navy berthing compartments almost never are kept up to the Marine standards, sorry to say.

Start up a civil service branch called “Cyber Corps” with the duty to serve all armed services. For a premium, eligible members can go through boot/basic to embed in a unit direct combat unit. Strict disciplinary guidelines where the unit commander (O-5 or higher) can relieve from duty, 3 strikes and out.
They wouldn’t be Marines or soldiers, but senior level cyber troops wouldn’t be front line level, anyway. They’d be no lower than brigade, and have technical responsibility for military specialists at battalion and lower.
My $.02.
In the Navy we had people who could sign up for 6 years instead of 4 in certain rates (Jobs) and instantly become an E-4 right out of boot camp. We called these people “Push Buttons” because with a push of a button on a typewriter they were a Petty Officer. They didn’t earn it and were not respected by the rank and file who did earn it. I understood why they did it. They needed more people in these high tech fields. It didn’t matter to the regular sailor though.
It would be a grave mistake to implement this kind of thing in the Marines. It would be divisive and bad for military cohesive unity and readiness.
Boot camp is basic training for a Marine, and it is called BASIC TRAINING for a reason.
If you don't know how to perform basic functions, like load a magazine into a weapon, aiming and shooting a weapon, defend your self in hand to hand combat, you are not a member of the military, regardless of branch.
Hell, even those soft Air Force pukes go through some basic training {but I think it is called home-ec}, i.e. baking, cleaning, sewing, etc.
Go ahead Air Force guys, flame away but you know that the Air Force always gave better treatment to their folks, barracks, food, discipline, etal.
Yeah, but at least they went to boot camp, i.e. basic training.
Just like one would actually have won an election to be a real president, right?
