Years ago I was standing in for a manager on leave and was privy to a meeting with Boeing company lawyers, HR, and our department management team. We had a difficult employee problem. Asian, female, over the age of fifty. She had probably been “moved around” for years.
Lawyers flat out told us to find her a corner and leave her alone. It was far cheaper than lawsuits. The question was raised; “how do we budget for that”? Response was “that is why you are managers” and get the big bucks.
Should have fired her early on too. Weasling cowardice always makes things worse in the long run.
