Perhaps I should qualify that by saying “in the free world” since China and the Soviet Union were brutalizing their citizenry during that time.

Hmmmm....which country has political prisoners locked up in their capital in political prisons for minor offenses, with little or no due process. Some in solitary confinement, not allowed to speak to family, and some not even charged for over a year. And their government state gestapo intimidating people so that they cannot even protest, not even at school board meetings, without fearing they will be locked up with no rights. And what which country wants its Tax agency to investigate all financial transactions as low as $600? This country also looks a lot like me to be like the old Soviet Union.

Yes, just think how we’re in “the free world” are trending closer and closer to two of the modern era’s classic examples of totalitarian rule. We seem to have a lot of catching up to do, that’s why the oppression we experience every day seems too much to process.
