We never had that problem. Ever.

It’s Lovely Old Neighborhood, no sidewalks, very narrow roads, very picturesque, but people out for a stroll, walking their dogs, jogging, biking, etc. are *in* the narrow road. Even at 25 mph, it’s not always possible to see them around the many hilly curves and the lawn service vehicles often parked in the road, so one would be forced to plow headlong into one of those monstrosities to avoid them. They’re not only silly, they are dangerous.

I call them “brick outhouse mailboxes”. Only the nouveau riche neighbors who moved in and MacMansionized the lovely architectural gems they bought built them. All the Lovely Old Families kept their normal mailboxes.

Re: "Brick Outhouse Mailboxes"

The owners show real clinical apathy putting such a structure where a car could crash into it with severe injuries to the driver and passengers. It's also damning that the homeowner's insurance company and the municipality allow them.
