The '60s and '70s Leftist "activists" grown old and presently in charge of our government and other governments around the world are making their "last stand" to get everything they ever wanted before they croak.
The irony, of course, is that their motto used to be "Stick it to The Man!" Now they are "The Man" and they're sticking it to the rest of us.
