BTW, I was just thinking how once I’m past the weekend starts, things have gotten much easier with these polls!

The linked survey site is great to have to tally what’s happening.

No more printing out sheets and sheets of posted picks, highlighting who I already counted, and often begging my son to help me read them while I tally!

SurveyHero has made this alot more fun! (But yeah, setting up the ends and starts of rounds with links and all is still a bear.)

TOURNAMENT OF CHART-TOPPERS – 1950’S II PING LIST
(This is a temporary ping list….so don’t worry!)

Welcome to all members who signed up already!

For those who have not signed up, please consider tuning into the Tournament of Chart-Toppers for the 1950s and casting your votes!

(Please PM me if you would like to be ON or OFF the ping list!)

Mid-week report:

35 responses!

Only 1 race is tight - Elvis' twin entries of Heartbreak Hotel and All Shook Up!

2 races have overwhelming run-aways as of now - for "All I Have to do is Dream/CLAUDETTE" and "Rock Around the Clock".

Personal note: I emphasize this last because, while I LOVE "Dream", it's tied to "Claudette" which I never even heard of before these surveys. It's OK, but it drags down the whole so I can't vote for Everlys thanks to this! (Apologies to Roy Orbison)

The other races are pretty clinched, but cannot be sure if more people chime in.

Please vote if you haven't!

I was rooting for Vera Lynn to win the tournament, but she was eliminated early on. Although her entry, "Auf Wiedersehen," was her biggest hit, it was not her best performance of the fifties--that would be If You Go (1951) or Hollywood Square Dance (1950). She has a number of fans on this board.

Please remove me from the ping list. As much as I enjoy old Rock n Roll, you’ve made it too complicated.

I voted early. Hoping Kansas City makes the cut.

Thank you, CA.

It’s easier for me, too! To the point I’m almost forgetting about it at the end of the week!

Used to be lots of printing, highlighting, and counting, tally marks on paper, and double-checking! This website survey stuff is great (and this is free - hence why it’s not “perfect”, but it’s really good).

RESULTS of Round 3: 16 play-off brackets, 32 pieces

Poll seed-year-BB rank-piece-act

1 1950 2 “Mona Lisa” Nat King Cole
16 1956 2 “Don’t Be Cruel” Elvis Presley
9 1952 4 “You Belong to Me” Jo Stafford
8 1958 8 “Tequila” The Champs
4 1957 3 “Little Darlin’” The Diamonds
45 1958 7 “Catch a Falling Star” / “Magic Moments” Perry Como
12 1956 1 “Heartbreak Hotel” Elvis Presley
5 1959 6 “Dream Lover” Bobby Darin
2 1958 2 “All I Have to Do Is Dream” / “Claudette” The Everly Brothers
18 1956 4 “My Prayer” The Platters
10 1959 2 “Mack the Knife” Bobby Darin
58 1959 10 “Mr. Blue” The Fleetwoods
3 1955 2 “Rock Around the Clock” Bill Haley & His Comets
19 1957 7 “Singing the Blues” Guy Mitchell
11 1954 4 “Sh-Boom” The Crew-Cuts
27 1955 7 “Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing” The Four Aces

Notes:
-40 people voted
-No pairs were real close. Some were off by 5-7 votes, but that is the closest. Never any real nail-biters for me to track.
-Biggest “wipe-out” was “Rock Around the Clock” beating “Hound Dog”, latter getting 4 votes out of 40. Similar was Everly Bros. beating “Love Letters in the Sand”, which only got 5 votes of 40.

Hold on for Round 4!

The survey is at 1950s survey Top 32

When I clicked, it said "This survey has been closed!"

Huh?

Sorry - wrong thread!

You need to go to Round 4. Use keywords on here if you’re not seeing the ping to it.

Round 3 is CLOSED.
