So, on Christmas day I show up on his lanai with a huge gash in my tail and looking like sh!t. A gator got me.
Kehoe sees that I might not live through this, and performs basic first aid (I hissed at him and slightly bit him, my bad).
So Kehoe tells his First lady not to feed me because he doesn't want a cat. Yep, the First lady feeds me, yum.
Of course I go back later. Tail is on the mend, and I know where to get my next meal...
But Kehoe had other ideas. I show up for my daily feeding and bandage change, and he grabs me and throws me into a cat carrier. Puts me in the Jeep and drives me five miles away and dumps me in Odessa.
Two days later I show up on Kehoe's door step.
I've been here ever since
Should be “tail” of the cat.
🤣
Pic of the cat, please
When I was a kid I had 2 pigeons. I let them loose when we went camping a couple of hundred miles away, basically hoping they’d live somewhere nearby. They beat us home.
So if Tiger is 16 and showed up in 2006 he (she?) was just a yearling or thereabouts at the start of the story.
In 1998 two feral juvenile DSH brother and sister showed up on my doorstep out in the woods. Fed them outside for a couple weeks, and eventually took them in. The girl stayed pretty wild and wary, lived to about 16. The boy bonded with me and became my best friend. He disappeared one time for over two weeks, and when he came back he looked like hell, probably had a run-in with a bigger critter. But he swaggered in with a "Yeah but you should see the other guy" look in his eye. He passed away at 19 and I still miss him like crazy.
Thanks for sharing the story. Brought back good memories.
Kehoe doesn’t deserve you after what he tried to pull. Thank you for forgiving him.
Tell that cat it is his year (but use Mandarin so he understands).
That is your cat. Accept him.
A year and a half went by and one day she heard meowing outside her front door.
It was her Buddy, the blue maltese. His hair was matted and in rats. He had porqupine quills stuck in his body. Life had been hard, but he made it back to his forever home.
My aunt was elated.
Ping.
