Yes. One could ask. But, remember, according to the propaganda reports it was Zelensky that ask for talks. In fact, he has been on TV/video several times asking.
On the other hand, if Putin can get what he wants without more fighting and stop the war, he wins. I’m sure he’s smart enough to know that there is an expiration date on this war. It’s like musical chairs. When the music stops just hope you’ve got a good seat.
