Gardens are a whole lot more work for a whole lot less results than most people are mentally prepared for.

Trust me the summer farmers markets will do a booming business this year as will small meat processing businesses. Local groceries will be plagued with ever higher shipping costs and supply chain shortages. Those of us in flyover country has an advantage as we are close to local food producers. With increased fuel costs for soybean farmers that Thanksgiving tofurkey at Whole Foods will cost more than the latest Birkenstocks.

Well, since we are retired on a fixed income, and we aren’t getting 10% (For the Big Guy), it sure looks like our garden passion is about to become a necessity.

"Also, you might want to load up on bread at the supermarket as prices may jump."

I would suggest learning to bake bread and stocking up on various flours and yeast, if you're smart!

Don't forget to look for The Weekly Garden Thread, posted on Saturday mornings, when I get around to it, LOL!

We have a HUGE Brain Trust over there and would LOVE to help new gardeners, or help seasoned gardeners improve production, solve problems, etc. We are here to help!

Throw in our current trade DEFICIT (which has kept rising since the 1970’s) and it’s clearly a plan for disaster. But, no one ever listens to me! :(

“The U.S. trade deficit increased from $676.7 billion in 2020 to $859.1 billion in 2021.”
