Starts out with arms shipments. Than tech support. Than advisers. When that fails it’s boots on the ground. And then it’s down hill from there. Vietnam redux. Americans are very naive people. Think you can waltz into a country and be treated as heros. Well western parts of Ukraine maybe. But in the east if you dared put a foot there, it would a slow bleed and the very tactics the U.S war party is cheer leading now would be used against you. The U.S would be humiliated again. Just give it up. Stay out of quagmires for a change.

Putin is a LOSER just like Hitler

That is a ridiculous comparison given that the Nazis killed 2.7 million Russians during WWII.

It's utterly ridiculous to believe Putin is trying reassemble the Soviet Union.

We fomented a revolution in Ukraine and turned into a battering ram against the Russians. That split the country and resulted in the ethnically Russian part of it being persecuted by Ukrainian nationals. That part of the country absolutely wanted to join Russia or independent. Putin assisted them.

The idea the Ukrainian nationalist bastards, which includes a healthy neo-Nazi element, are the victims is laughable. Those bastards cut the water off to Crimea. The launched an eight-year war in Donbass that killed 14,000 people. The simplistic idiocy of Putin is evil and Ukrainian nationalists are angels is lunacy. And, it's this kind of one-sided propaganda that leads to unnecessary wars.

Well, for one thing, we’d find out kinda fast whether or not the F35 is worth what we pay for it.

That’s what causes wars, the appearance of weakness.

Wonder what these ‘go all in’ would do if China stationed troops in Mexico. ‘Invade, Invade, de-commify Mexico’.

Those security concerns we created with provocative action toward Russia, starting with the Ukrainian revolution.
***That smells a lot like bullsnot to me. Russia signed the Budapest Memorandum and they’ve violated it twice, both times when there’s a weakling democrap prez here in the US. Since when are “provocative actions” cause for war when that very state has written security assurances that they WON’T invade?

We also signed it, and have thrown the Ukes under the bus, sold them down the river, betrayed them.

Zelensky is a Soros puppet.

Where is the evidence that Zelensky is a "Soros puppet" and what exactly is a Soros puppet?

Where is the evidence that Zelensky is corrupt as many of you are alleging and if he is so corrupt, what is his net worth that would indicate he's profiting from his now position as President of the Ukraine?

If I didn't know better, I would suspect you are parroting whatever crap the pro Russian lackies have been saying about him without any substantive evidence...........

[The Russians have more of a reason to be in Ukraine than we did in Iraq. Those security concerns we created with provocative action toward Russia, starting with the Ukrainian revolution.]

It’s not Ukraine that massed its forces and invaded Russia, but the reverse. Russia’s simply been an aggressive “bad neighbor” for the last few hundred years, but particularly during the Soviet period. Unsurprisingly nations like Ukraine, Poland, the Baltics, Hungary, the Czechs and Slovaks given the chance to be “out from under” take it. (Heck the Finns are contemplating joining NATO now.) Ukrainians look at their options–Poland or Belarus–and think “hmm, i’ll take A”. And Putin instead of just taking care of his people’s business, is all butt hurt about it–like an abusive boyfriend whose woman has left.

Putin’s imperialist aggression isn’t civilizing, but destructive, anti-civilizing. His bully boy crap is the kind of thing that civilized men have to put down to keep civilization alive.

To be fair, if your country was under attack you’d want everyone to help. Even if it destroyed them because your country is doomed either way.

[That is a ridiculous comparison given that the Nazis killed 2.7 million Russians during WWII.]

If you’re talking in terms of general principle - that people with bigger grievances have a better claim, then Russia has very little claim. Russia wasn’t even conquered in its entirety. Germany lost 1/2 its population during the 30 Years War. Russia lost 10% during Barbarossa, the continuation of WWII, a war that Russia started in connivance with Germany. By your logic, that the most historically-scarred should get more real estate, maybe Russia should cede most of its territory to Germany and reside in a German-sized patch of land in Siberia.

In 1898, the Russian General Staff carried out a comprehensive study of Russian warfare since the foundations of the state. In the summary volume, the editor told his readers that they could take pride in their country’s military record and face the future with confidence — between 1700 and 1870, Russia had spent 106 years fighting 38 military campaigns, of which 36 had been “offensive”. You don’t make an omelette like Russia that’s 4x the size of the EU *combined* without breaking a continent’s worth of eggs. The principal issue with Russia is its insatiable desire for more territory, not any insecurity.

***Oh, so THAT’s what you’re afraid of, another Vietnam. Funny, we weren’t so afraid of that scenario when we accepted the de-nuking of the Ukes. If they had kept their nukes, they never woulda gotten invaded by the Rukes.

Americans are very naive people. Think you can waltz into a country and be treated as heros.
***True enough.

Well western parts of Ukraine maybe. But in the east if you dared put a foot there, it would a slow bleed and the very tactics the U.S war party is cheer leading now would be used against you.
***The Russians weren’t even interested in western Ukraine until oil was found there. Their interest is simply in raping that country. Russia gets 60% of its revenues from oil exports. Europe gets 40% of their oil from Russia.

In 2012 massive oil and gas reserves were found in Crimea. Crimea signed a $10 billion exploration contracts with Shell and Chevron to develop the new found oil and gas fields. These oil and gas products would compete in Europe with Russia’s oil and gas, reducing Russia’s oil revenues, which we recall amount to 60% of their total GDP. Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, cancelling the contracts with Shell and Chevron.

But Ukraine still had massive reserves in, you guessed it, Donetsk and Luhansk, and other areas East of the Dnieper River. In 2019, Energy Secretary Rick Perry visited Ukraine, and soon after Ukraine awarded exploration contracts to a consortium of U.S. oil companies. Again, these oil reserves would compete in Europe with Russian oil, so Putin is invading Ukraine to shut down this latest attempt to extract Ukrainian oil and sell it in competition with Russian oil.

This explanation makes more sense to me than the “Putin feels threatened by NATO expansion” excuses for the invasion.

The U.S would be humiliated again. Just give it up. Stay out of quagmires for a change.
***Then just send me. I’ll take my cues from the A-Bomb kid, and restore sovereignty of Ukraine to all of Ukraine only at the expense of, say, 200k Russian soldiers and civilians. The Rukes will gladly give up every single piece of warfighting equipment they brought into Ukraine. It’ll be a very aggressive Ukrainian neutrality, just like they want. No NATO, No Russian kickaround, No more US betrayals. Just leaving the F’Ukes alone.
