The Southern District of New York is a cesspool, ethical and political. It is so bad it should be shut down.

Garland should hang. Hundreds if not thousands of media shills are also culpable.

I read a post on another site from a security analyst who speculated the late night raid on O’Keefe was to be a cover for what was discovered by monitoring their emails. If it came out that the information came from their monitoring of emails, it would ruin their cover so a raid was staged as a cover for the information that was discovered from monitoring.

Actually, Barr left in mid December 2020. There was an acting AG, (which I suspect the investigative team bypassed). So all of the 16 months were under the acting AG, (1 1/2 month), and the rest under Biden.

DOJ ignores a court ruling to stop violating the 4th amendment. After they got away with FISA couirt abuse it became evident that DOJ could break the law with impunity.

-- What is Microsoft's connection to this? --

Good question. I think MS was mailserver at least, because much of what was disclosed by MS to the DOJ was e-mail exchanges. MS was order to disclose using what is called a National Security Letter (NSL). No warrant. MS was also order to gag or secrecy. No warrant. NSL is a common snooping tool.

Judges and the executive side are playing for the same team, against the people. Once in awhilethey deliver some platitudes and hand wringing, but the government is incapable of self-correction.

It’ll provide all sorts of things that look like correction (slap clinesmith hand, for example), but the basic reality is that all of the government is on an out of control power trip. Those in it (judges, administrators, legislators alike), like it that way.

Checks and balances is intramural battle between the branches. There is no check or balance that gives real power to the people. we can elect puppet actors who also have no real power, that’s it.

-- What's the penalty? --

Listening to denials from the perp and handwringing from Congress and the courts.

But seriously, the typical penalty on a fourth amendment violation is suppression of evidence at trial, or an order from the court that the snooper stop snooping. That order is basically "be more careful when you snoop so you don't get caught snooping."
