“When Biden increased the ethanol content of gasoline from 10% to 15% all it did was to make food more expensive.”

All new and turbo cars can’t use E85 and if you do you void your warranty. Only pretty old cars can and if they do it
“cleans” the debris off the gas tank and clogs the fuel system. Does anyone buy E85. Gas stations around me don’t sell it.

Its not that hard to do. And fresh pasta is way better than store bought.

No one can blame them one bit, they do have over 1 billion people to feed, so it does make all the sense in the world to take of them first considering if you don’t you could end up as ex-Prime Minister in a manner that would not be pleasant.

I was wondering about that, thinking the Monday open of the Commodities Exchanges would be chaotic.

I also make fresh pasta. So FReepers in the fresh pasta camp need to increase their stockpile of semolina flour.

"Yes, our food will be exported to other countries because the Democrats are the party of punishment. If you are an American you are from a white supremacist country, you deserve to be punished. No food for you. No baby formula for your child."

And, they get to teach your children to hate you, the USA and then themselves.

Given the situation in the world, how much of that wheat do you think they will export, my guess is little to none.

Sardines, canned tuna, and anything like that is loaded with sodium. Very bad for older folks with blood pressure issues.

Governments holding back food will create a Massive food shortage not mention the spoiling of food

That’s what I was thinking, as food becomes scarcer, countries will rightfully hold back food usually meant for export creating a potential worldwide food famine.

As I mentioned, Sri Lanka is already in near Civil War, other countries prone to famine might also start to revolt.

Remember the Arab Spring a few years back ??? It all started over food issues.

Yellow number two dent corn is used for ethanol and animal feeds and corn products like corn flour, corn oil and corn masa. Yellow number two dent corn when wet milled for ethanol production yields corn oil as a by product. The wet meal is then fermented into ethanol and the mash still contains all the original protein plus more protein from the yeast cells. This product is known as distillers wet grains it is high quality cattle feed as cows can easily digest the proteins which they need and their four chambered stomachs can turn the cellulose seed coats into sugars just like if they ate grass. DDGS is distillers dried grains with solubles This is the wet mash pressed into feed cakes and the reduced juices loaded with the original minerals from the corn added back in. It’s top quality cattle feed. Cows do better on DDGS vs whole corn since the high starch content of whole corn messes up the PH balances of the rumen. So no growing corn for ethanol doesn’t take food away the byproducts are 100% used for animal feeds sheep, goats, cattle and hogs all get DDGS as a protein source with the rumen animals capable of using it also as a carbohydrate ssource. DDGS is cheaper by the ton vs soybean feed and also cheaper than whole yellow dent corn the distillers want to get ride of it. Overall DDGS lowers the cost of meats due to its cheapness vs other feed sources. America has 9 million plus acres of farmland the Federal government pays farmers to not grow on a portion of that and America has surplus nearly every year so there is no lack of land to grow things on. Farmers chase profits like any other industry so if corn is where the money is then that’s what’s grown if it is soy then soy is grown it’s a commodities gamble every year for farmers. They are under no obligation to grow any specific crops for human food or animals the market sets the prices for the various commodities and they farmers chase the markets. Fertilizer is expensive this year so lower yields or crop rotations will be used this will lower supply which will increase prices in the market to signal to the farmers to invest in more expensive fertilizer to go after the higher market price production will then increase until a new equilibrium is established.

Plenty of new cars can use E85 my Volvo can it’s a 2018 nearly every Ford that was a white work truck version of the gas powered F150/250 has the yellow E85 cap it’s cheaper for Ford to make one flex fuel version than to switch out the production lines. The difference is a single sensor in the fuel line to detect the levels of ethanol in the fuel and some software in the ECU. Modern engines after the elimination of lead in gasoline have the hardened valve seats needed for high octane fuels without lead. E85 is 105+ octane. Around here in north Texas E85 is sold in yellow pump lines and handles it’s $3.54 a gallon vs 4.19 for E10 87 octane the 93 premium is $5.10 a gallon right now. Normally E85 is only a few cents cheaper per gallon and on a btu to btu basis is not a good deal right now it’s a better deal and my Volvo is running exclusively on E85 I have noticed it’s turbo boost levels are up by 5 psi the ECU recognises the 105+ octane and is running in its highest performance mode. Mpg is not down by much compared to E10 with 60% more btu per gallon not at all surprised as the motor is running at much higher BMEP levels pushing the BSFC into the higher efficiency zone. Turbo motors are most efficient at 75% of full BMEP under full boost any operating point away from that has higher BSFC by upping the boost levels in acceleration and cruise the ECU is pushing the engine closer to its peak efficiency point. I normally get 35mpg on the highway at 85+ mph and 30 ish combined in the city with the E10 mandated here. So far with three full tanks of E85 one on a road trip 31mpg hwy 27 City for a fuel with 60% less energy per gallon. That tells me that the engine has moved into a much higher BMEP operating point due to the 105+ octane fuel it is being feed. It’s the octane of a fuel that determines how efficient a motor can burn it the Otto cycle which all petrol motors use is most efficient at high compression ratios in theory at 50:1 compression ratios the cycle is 70% of carnot eff. Most engines are 11:1 or less so no where near that level usually 12 to 25% of carnot. By increasing manifold boost for every 14 psi you double the effective compression ratio 5 psi above E10 levels is a one third boost in compression ratio that alone explains the shift to higher BMEP I wish E85 was this much cheaper on the regular it significantly ups the performance of a turbo boosted engine. The same way in WWII when aircraft engines got alcohol spray into the superchargers to up the octane for a huge boost in take off. Having a direct injection of alcohol into your motor is the same effect only better with 2020 levels of computer controls.
