I wouldn’t have wasted my time on anything written by that woke “historian” Douglas Brinkley.

I don’t trust any utterance from his mouth or his pen.

I’ve given it a read and I think there is good material in it a bit sexed up which isn’t good and I can detect a few factual errors along the way.

When Cronkite did the nuclear test broadcast in 1953 the book makes Chet Huntley out to be the NBC guy and Morgan Beatty the ABC guy at that event.

Huntley actually worked for ABC in 1953 after years at CBS in Los Angeles before NBC hired him in 1955.

Morgan Beatty was an NBC broadcaster even did radio on the day of the JFK Assassination for NBC.

I would take Brinkley’s writing with a grain of salt but I’ve read Cronkite’s own account to compare to this thing as well.
