You’ve known that they’re not updating for three days now.

Why keep posting a thread when literally nothing has changed from yesterday or the day before?

Reports indicate that Ukrainian troops have been forced to withdraw from their defense of the key city of Sieverodonetsk.

(Edit: Holding the city was a political decision, not a military one.)

Ukrainian Su-24M Fencer strike aircraft and Su-25 Frogfoot close air support aircraft flew around two dozen airstrikes against advancing Russian units south of Lysychansk, yesterday.

Russian ‘Boomerang’ Missile Video Explained By Air Defense Expert
A veteran air defense operator has some ideas as to what could have led to this spectacular mishap in Ukraine.
https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/russian-boomerang-missile-video-explained-by-air-defense-expert

———————————————————————————————————————
••4th month anniversary of war
••Russian sovereign debt bonds - now technically in default. Russian corporate bonds will also fall into default.
••Russian railroads have stopped transporting some undisclosed goods to Poland
••Oil: Western Oil policies are totally counter productive, leading to worsening conditions in the West. Russian produces 10m bbls day; India buying 10%; China buys 2-3m bbls day.
••Russian hackers supervised by FSB (like the trolls on FR), successfully attacked Exxon mobile rewards cards, and AirCourt Shell Energy in Texas
••Military Big Picture: Simplified analogy - Larger Soviet Army (Russian) is fighting Smaller Soviet Army (Ukraine ZSU). Smaller Soviet Army cannot win against Larger Soviet Army as it has fewer resources and must change to survive. Larger Soviet Army, because it has more resources, does not have to change. Larger Soviet Army has about 3.5X advantaged.

Strategically, the only chance the ZSU has is to reform and stop being Smaller Soviet Army. Else slow bleeding and retreating and will not end well. Heavy weapons will solve problem the ZSU and government believes - now seeing the amount needed will never arrive because the West does not have that amount to give.

The ZSU and Ukraine society need to become efficient; this is about being efficient. The Larger Soviet Army is any thing but efficient.

••There will be about 20 units of HIMARS. Together with the Krabs, PH 2000 and Caesars, they need to be used to fight Orc long range artillery (command centers, logistic dumps), knocking them out in a strategic systematic way, but ZSU is spreading them over the front - where they float around shooting random tanks, BMPs, changing nothing. Misuse of very valuable and very capable equipment.

Another problem is there is still no equivalent of the relatively primitive Orc Orlon-10 which is organizationally structured correctly: embedded in artillery and can’t be taken away or used for other purposes. (Edit: 2C19 Msta-C and other units are setup to receive the data directly). There are no UAVs for these Western weapons, and therefore cannot use them correctly to immediately correct fire - the weapons dispersion of 5 meters or so is enough to be a miss.

Purchase (reported as a big deal in Ukraine) of 10 UAVs that are a worse equivalent than an Orlon-10 for ZSU. Purchased by the people nit the government. Oil is to get $8.5 million, for a system with 2 UAVs (effectively 20 UAVs, he said - no explanation). Each will cost about $425,000, verses $200,000 for 2 Orlon-10s with built in corruption, profit, kick backs - making each Orlon-10 actually cost around $20-30,000.

No strategic response by ZSU. Unless the ZSU is usable to efficiently use weapons, then were given there is no way out.

———————————————————————————————————————

Summary: Ukrainian troops retreated from the Severodonetsk bridgehead on the night of 23/24th of June.
Key areas:
- Izyum bridgehead: no changes.
- Severodonetsk: Ukrainian troops retreated from Severodonetsk.
- Popasna area: Russian troops are putting pressure near Vovchoyarivka.
- Svitlodarsk area: no changes.
- Donetsk West: no changes
- Kherson bridgehead: no changes.

1. Kharkiv: Russian troops continue putting pressure with the goal of capturing Rubizhne which remains in UA hands. Russian sources claim that they captured Rubizhne.
••ZSU attempted to attack energy infrastructure in Bransk region. A pin prick at best.
••Increased Orc pressure to push them south

2. Izyum bridgehead: medium intensity fighting at Dolyna, Kransopillya, Bogorodychne.

3. Severodonetsk: Ukrainian troops withdrew from the Severodonetsk bridgehead in orderly fashion.
••ZSU retreated from the bridgehead night before last. May be some rear guard or recon units remaining. The rest of the troops moved to the west side of the river.

••Region to south which was controlled by ZSU, executed a planned orderly withdrawal - was well done. Started on 06/01/22.

••Not a great or positive decision, but was necessary. Was a result of weakness UA not able to deal with Orc way of war. At the start Orcs had smaller army than ZSU. It was heavy use of artillery that enabled there advances, plus ZSU troops were not trained how to survive an artillery war. Only small minority of ZSU troops are doing things the right way for this war. This lack of training accounts for high ZSU casualties.

••ZSU will be forced to withdraw to Bilohorivka (not the one one the river, but the one to the south), are 2 more defensive lines they can fall back on.
••Orc troops attacking NNW toward the idled oil refinery (idled because of poor management).

4. Popasna area: Russian troops are attacking Vovchoyarivka with the goal to force withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Lysychansk.

5. Svtilodarsk area: No changes.

6. West of Donetsk: Avdiyivka and Maryinka. No changes.

7. Vugledar: No changes.

8. Velyka Novosilka - Gulyapole stretch of frontline. No changes.

9. Kherson bridgehead: No changes.

using StA in a StS role is different setup

AND, that’s a hell of a lot of rubbles worth of hi-tech StA to simply use them for drilling them into ground targets

Energy markets being remade.

“Plans for more than 20 liquefied natural gas import projects have been announced, relaunched or sped up across Europe since Russia invaded Ukraine, according to a recent analysis by FTI Consulting. Analysts said those projects have the potential to contribute an additional 128 billion cubic meters in natural-gas import capacity over the coming years, roughly the equivalent of 83% of the EU’s total 2021 imports from Russia.”
