Splendid and educating link you have there. Pretty much proves that our first red headed president had a James T. Callender whereas our most recent one has a comparable nasty niece whose life was/is devoted to slander.

I was last there about 1995. Escorted groups only. Even back then they were constantly reminding us that Jefferson was a slave owner. We spent way too much time in the slave quarters in the basement. The best part of the house, Jefferson’s study, were roped off. In fact, much of the place was not accessible.

I assume they’ve now made slavery the focus and written an emotional narrative.

Our original sin! Clarence Thomas said that is not healthy because it made everyone a "victim".

We all know slavery was and is bad. None of us would want to be a slave with no rights. Does Monticello really need to flog the dead horse of “slavery is bad?” WE KNOW, Captain Obvious.

I visited Monticello in 2001 (early 2000s anyway), and the information about the actual people working on the estate, what they did, where they lived, what they did when they moved away was interesting. There was a lot of history about the Hemings family.

I went there in the 60s and they didn’t talk about slavery much, except to imply certain work was done by slaves. They did claim he invented all sorts of gadgets there that they later admitted he bought.

I don’t know if I am the only one, but I am really sick of hearing all this about slavery, etc.

You think Lee didn’t find blacks inferior

So did Lincoln

Are they racist

Maybe get down off your wokish high horse and see how Davis and his brother actually treated their slaves

Everyone white is racist and you feed the beast talking trash on my ancestors

I’ve watched this stupidity here 22 years and now you feign discombobulation they are coming after Jefferson because you play right into it and they will not stop with just folks like Sam Bowers

People never talked such self righteous nonsense in my youth

It’s been ruinous

Stone aged peoples now are morally superior to the civilized

Tom George Abe and Lee didn’t think such drivel

Even Thaddeus Stevens who gave money to people who desired to kill white women and children and who loved to bang black women far below his station didn’t find them superior either

One last thing for you

Racism is not the original scene you think it is

The whole damn world self identifies with the respective group

Having lived 20 years in a non white world they would find you weak

There was a hassle a few years back about Jefferson and all the regurgitation of TJs sexual life.

What I do remember from that hassle is that whites claiming Jefferson heritage were coming out of the woodwork looking for their 15 minutes.

It's really none of anyone's business.

There others that were alive at the time that have nevr been raked over the coals.

Oh, dear; where have you been? A couple of years ago Robert E. Lee's sarcophagus was removed from the chapel at the college he founded—and endowed—along with George Washington (Washington and Lee). W&L has been raked over for years by students of color wanting to change the entire name of the college. That effort was recently put to a vote by the college administrators and failed. But it's bound to come up again. And again.

Also, in Richmond, the capital of Lee's home state of Virginia (former capital of the Confederacy), an enormous brouhaha was made about removing the massive centerpiece bronze equestrian statue of Lee in front of the courthouse. It was sawed in half and hauled away in front of a large gathering of POCs and guilty white liberals. Made the television stations for several days as well.

The story on Lee has been exaggerated by Marxist revisionists even more than it was exaggerated by Southern hagiographers in the past; but many very astute people post-Civil War, such as Dwight Eisenhower, have called him an honorable soldier, leader, West Point commandant and wartime general, as well as an openly repentant former slave owner after the war.

Long ago, there seemed to be an unspoken “deal” between North and South.

North: “We won, but we won’t be dicks about it.”

South: “We get to honor our heroes, but we won’t try it again.”

The black racists, the communists, and the ignoramuses have been violating that agreement ... It didn’t start with Nimrata Randhawa (an immigrant who never really became American), but she sure kicked it into high gear.

Good summary. I might add that I visited the Lost Colony at Roanoke Island (North Carolina) a few weeks ago and at the mid day time we were there the only narrated tour that was on was a tour about how the island area was used as a freed slave town (failed) during the civil war. We came back two and a half hours later to see a lost colony tour.

Historians, like journalists, sociologists, anthropologists, general academics, preforming artists and many other liberal arts fields produce nothing but leftists. These fields of study and comment should be derided and ignored in general.

“Pretty much mirrors the current attitudes of the DC beltway elites...”

Very true. But you won’t hear the liberals call them slaves even if it is implied.

Someone should set up a normal Thomas Jefferson Museum as close as possible.
