They are in the process of shutting down 3G and prior on their network. By end of year if you haven’t upgraded your phone to 4 or 5G then you won’t be able to use it anymore.
My wife has an old 3G phone and is already experiencing issues, we’ve just been putting off getting the new one as things come up.
Several years ago I had to get rid of my 3G phone because someone's network booster was showing up on my screen as an icon. It was interfering with making calls, and I couldn't manually update my roaming capabilities on it. The only way I could get rid of the icon, was to drive a few blocks down the street, and it would disappear. It was only then that I could dial-in to update my roaming. I ended up getting a cheap iPhone which got rid of the network booster problem, but I went from 4 bars to 1 1/2 bars at home with the iPhone. I bitched to Verizon about it, and they sent me a $250 network booster for my home, for free. I've gotten 4 bars at home since then, but often wonder if my booster is now messing with someone else's network.
Not the issue. Massive storms on east coast yesterday. Struck my mom’s back yard.
I don’t know if Verizon is down, or mom’s box is fried.
I was paying Verizon $84.00 a month for two phones.
I had an Iphone 5c, going out with 3G.
I bought a new in box Iphone 6s on ebay for $140.00 and switched to Redpocket for $84.00 a YEAR. (1000 minutes a month, unlimited texts, 1 GB of high speed, which I never use all of)
Son wanted unlimited, so he got the $180.00 a year plan.
