Just noticed this announcement from last week. Hotair went VIP a few months ago so I'm guessing Allahpundit's hits on Hotair went into the gutter when his comment section was limited to paying customers only.
When 90% of the comments you get are against you, those people aren't going to pay to insult you.

Clownhall went that route too after getting negative comments. I am very critical of a few of the writers at Clownhall. Many of them are never Trumpers who were better at hiding their hatred for Trump than Redstate and Hotair.
I am not going to pay to drop negative comments on either Hotair or Clownhall.

All (nearly all anyway) the best commentators left Hot Air soon after MM sold it and they changed the comment system to some left leaning third party outfit (I forget which one). And even before that, most of the good conservatives despised AP.
So I say Good riddance, but 14 years too late.
But on the bright side, the Hot Air Exodus led me to discovering Free Republic.
