They are called Ribbon Bridges. My son’s unit put up the first real one in combat during OIF, objective Peach, April 3, 2003, from the Karbala area across the Euphrates.

, 299th Army Engineers, MRB, earning a Presidential Unit citation for their performance under enemy fire.
