. . Years ago, in one of my college texts there was a discussion about being able to tell if someone had severe psychological issues using, if I recall correctly, PET scans. (Positron Emission Tomography, a tool to measure mental activity and where it is occurring.)
The thrust of the discussion was that it was easy and reliable to use this tool in adults to detect and diagnose some severe mental problems.
The discussion was whether doing so in a non-clinical setting, such as for job placement or determining who could or could not be, say a policeman.
But the article mentioned that similar pathological brain activity was so common in teenagers that almost all of them would read on the PET as severely problematic.
The point is teenagers on average do not make rational decisions. This is widely recognized by governments restricting the rights and privileges of underaged people. But it is suddenly okay for a child to decide he wants to chop off body parts so he can pretend to be a woman.
Something has gone deeply wrong.

The problem with the internet is that it is a GIANT leap forward. The good/bad tradeoff is significantly greater.

My son & D-i-L are youth leaders at their church and the group has a girl who now identifies as “non-binary” — this may be something that will be helpful to them — perhaps to her as well.

When I read JLC’s kid’s story, I was revulsed. Completely.
I mean, whatever, dude but I felt more pity.
I just think these kids think the other sex has it easier or they just don’t like who they are or don’t even know who they are. Time takes care of that.

According to this article, at least, that isn't the case.
This girl thought being trans would take away the curse of being a guilty white cis-gender girl who was responsible for the ills of the world. Being trans would automatically make her a valuable minority person.
This is what CRT is producing when it is taught in schools and universities.
She's actually quite nice looking in a classic, non-glamorous way, with beautiful skin and nice coloring. She is probably of Polish extraction.
I watched her entire video and read her testimony. The problem she was having that led to her attempt to transition, was in my opinion that she is very highly intelligent, but wasn't receiving any interest in her potentials at home, nor career guidance for it at school. Her parents sounded well meaning but simply unable to recognize or support her intelligence, and were therefore ineffectual at coping with her fears.
Years ago, before anyone tried becoming trans as a coping mechanism, this phenomenon was recognized by a Swiss psychoanalyst in the book The Drama of the Gifted Child: The Search for the True Self (1997). From the book:
Kids who are gifted with their brains go through a process of trying to win love, care, and affection from their parents. If the child’s feelings aren’t validated, feelings of anxiety, depression, and anger build up. This leads to things like creativity, dyslexia, attention deficit disorder, and more. Some parents wonder why the gifted kids in their families are so frequently depressed, moody and anxious. ... depression and anxiety are far more common in gifted kids than in the average population. The American Psychological Association has noted that the number one concern of gifted children is not their success or failure. Instead, they worry about how others see them.
Several years after detransitioning. Voice is normal.

In her video, she spoke with understanding and forgiveness of her parents, sadness at the problems her choices had caused, and with compassion for other girls caught up in this social mania. I wish her every success in her recovery.
