merica is about to learn that what liberals actually mean when they claim to support “separation of church and state” is they want to use the power of government to silence those who disagree with them on same-sex marriage.
For years, liberals have perverted the meaning of Thomas Jefferson’s “absolute wall of separation” for keeping the state out of the church to keeping those in the church who uphold the Bible’s definition of marriage out of the public square.
The occasion for this teachable moment is the “Respect for Marriage Act” now before the Senate. Democrats claim the proposal is required to make same-sex marriage legal nationwide, even though the Supreme Court’s Obergefell decision in 2015 did precisely that.
The House passed a similar bill last summer, so there are some differences between the two chambers’ versions that will have to be ironed out, but that will happen quickly and President Joe Biden will sign the measure into the law.
A dozen Republican senators voted with all of the Democrats to advance the proposal. Had this dozen GOP lawmakers voted against advancing the bill, it would still be tied up in the Senate, with an excellent chance of not going any further before the 118th Congress convenes. There’s no guarantee, however, that the new Republican-controlled House of Representatives would block the proposal.
There are two elements here that command attention. The first element is seen in a Washington Post news analysis by staff writer Aaron Blake that reveals one of the most important and fundamental divides in American politics.
The same-sex marriage bill, according to Blake, asks lawmakers “to codify state and federal recognition of a right that the Supreme Court has ruled already exists.” In other words, the rights of every individual American citizen are defined by law, as

“That enforcement is the second element here that commands attention. The bill includes provisions that authorize the IRS to jerk the tax exemption of any church or non-profit that opposes same-sex marriage. The bill also encourages litigation to be brought against those same institutions in the court system to enforce the right to same-sex marriage.”
Got religious liberty? Godless Communist filth.

Agreed.
EVIL.
This country is in the final stages of freedom. We are in deep trouble.
And they got help from 12 Republicans. Imagine that.
I wish I could compile a movie of the current cultural and legal insanity, and travel back in time 30 years to show it to everyone. After 72 hours, the only DemoRAT votes ever cast again, would be in Hell.
The state only wants separation of church and state when the church interferes with the state’s agenda.
When it comes to the state controlling the church, they want no separation.
Joe thinks a public square is a tool used to build houses.
Acts 5:29.
And people need to start considering that when the government begins attacking the Bill of Rights, then the deal between the people and that institution is off. We will have an “in the course of human events” moment. I wonder if Biden will cut his F-15s loose on us.
Somebody please tell me Jo Jo the pedophile and his gestapo aren’t a bunch of Nazis.
What part of “founded on Judea principles” is not understood here?
Is this part of their “democracy” crap?
Since when does the government decide it all for lowly peasants——unless this is already Orwell’s 1984?
Biden and the democrats are pedophiles. A nuclear family would have fathers who would have mopped the floor with a chomo like Biden groping his daughter and any of the pedos reading to his children in drag.
In an effort to gain enough Republican votes to pass the bill through the Senate, a group that consisted of Collins, Portman, Thillis, Baldwin and Sinema on Monday announced an amendment designed to assuage concerns about religious freedom. That amendment specifies, in part, that the bill will not require nonprofit religious organizations to provide "any services, facilities, or goods for the solemnization or celebration of a marriage."
It further states that the act will not deny or alter any tax-exemption eligibility, such as that held by churches and universities that may decline to recognize same-sex marriages; and that it will not require the federal government to recognize polygamous marriages.
Not saying we aren’t on a slippery slope, but I believe tax exemptions are protected (at least for now)
And the church I used to attend, will only marry people who are part of the congregation; and to become a member, you have to believe marriage is between a man and woman only. I could see that becoming a core requirement for all Christian churches real quick.
“We are in deep trouble’’.
Damn right we are. What can we do to change this?
roe v wade was overturned because a pro abortion group challenged the MS 15 week limit
this law will set in motion for obergefell to be overturned
obergefell is based on the same constitutional argument as roe
