People actually watch that? I've been in WAY too many parades to sit and watch one.

Longest, hottest one was the Coca-Cola 100th Anniversary Parade in Atlanta in 1986. It must have been three miles, with all the glass buildings reflecting the heat.

For contrast, most parades are under one mile.

I just looked it up. The Macy's Parade is two and a half miles, but not in Atlanta summer heat.

The whole thing is a production not a parade. I used to like to watch in simpler times when balloons and marching bands were in the parade. No celebrities except Santa Clause to stop the flow.

Now it is an abomination like a disney super bowl show, unwatchable.

I was in the bicentennial Disney parade at Disney World (when it was still truly Disney). My sister SHOULD have been there as she was the star lead majorette, but she quit just before this. She was in a lot of local parades (I was just little, and did not do much), mostly summer.

As it was, people were passing out for the Disney parade. I remember mostly just being in a holding shelter until our time was up, and hearing about the teen girls dropping from the heat.

Yep, I did three Disney World parades, and someone passed out each time. One was a girl who insisted on wearing blue jeans under her uniform. Dumbass. Happened to be my girlfriend at the time. 8~)

The bands/baton twirler/flag wavers are totally ignored having spent all year practicing and raising money for the trip

The parade was mediocre. Most of the bands were great. I noticed that the network just flashed the queen band name but didn’t keep it up.
