We reported in October that musician and entrepreneur Kanye West (who now answers to “Ye”) was set to buy social media platform Parler. In the mix, as my colleague Kira Davis wrote then, was the recent re-upping of a ban on West’s Twitter account. Unless you’ve lived in a bunker for the past few months, you know he’s been mired in controversy over anti-Semetic remarks he’s made, on both social media and during interviews. You may have also heard about an unannounced visit to Mar-a-Lago for dinner.
When we last checked in on the guy (Thursday), he was sharing some extraordinarily positive opinions of Hitler and Nazis, during an interview on Alex Jones’ “InfoWars” podcast.
Now, it’s being reported that the deal that sounded like a sure thing between West and Parler is off–something that they “mutually agreed” on earlier in November, according to The Hill:
Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, will no longer purchase the alternative social media platform Parler, the company announced Thursday.
Parler Technologies said in a statement the company “mutually agreed” with Ye to terminate the intent of sale of Parler in a decision made in “mid-November.
“Parler will continue to pursue future opportunities for growth and the evolution of the platform for our vibrant community,” Parler Technologies said in a statement.
As usual, there will probably be more Ye antics to cover in the future. We’ll keep you posted
Twitter is loosening up. Truth Social has the MAGA conservatives. And Gab has the broadest free speech.
At this point, what market niche does Parlor hope to fill?
Maybe Kanye should buy Stormfront.org?
Kayne is someone I’d rather notsee.
When Parler was deplatformed and the left was trying to dox all of us on there, it killed the momentum it had gained.
It seems to me new services can compete only if they have free speech.
What the hell is “Parlor”?
I mean, yeah, “Parlor”! I own a majority share. Sell it to ya right now for $100.00!
