I've noticed that the price of paper towels has jumped up about 60+% over the last four months. Wondering if there will soon be another run on paper products like there was during the Plandemic? Or just plain old Bidenflation?
People stock up in winter
Bidenflation, get used to it.
The price of toilet paper has been ridiculous since 2020. I hate generic and Fiora tends to be the cheapest of the named brands, but it’s not much better.

I buy TP by the case from a local business supply company that services hotels and restaurants and retailers with paper products, cleaning supplies, vending machine items etc. I want to say TP is like 62 cents a roll that way. Nicer hotel quality stuff, wrapped individually in paper so the packaging is recyclable, too. I want to say the price has been the same over the last couple of years. I never have to run to the store for TP for home or business (and they deliver.)
Husband likes a store brand, so he picks it up from time to time, but geez those rolls have gotten narrow, and don’t fill up the holder from side to side anymore. Biden Shrinkflation.
Best economy ever…
Toilet paper and paper towels are the most ridiculous energy hog processes in manufacturing history. So much steam and heat goes out the stacks that ot creates its own rain and snow weather system in the surrounding 5 mile radius.
Use Scott's 1000 sheet single ply and go back to using rags and dish towels instead of paper towels, full of wet strength resins, creping adhesive, carboxy methyl cellulose, release agent chemicals, poly vinyl alcohol, and then people wrap their food with it.....
From the website:
“cleans your butthole with fresh water...”
That’s some real classy advertising right there. SMH
The good news is there are models that don’t need electricity.......that makes it very interesting to me.
I do use reusable towels and microfiber cloths. I use paper towels fairly sparingly.
I also use scott’s toilet paper. We have a septic system that is rather ancient.
Try the three seashells
Does it dry you off too? Or do you have to use a towel? If so, it doesn’t seem like much of an improvement. I buy TP by the carton from Who Gives A Crap (easy to find online). The price is as good or better than the grocery store, shipping is free, and 50% of their profit goes to sanitation projects in the Third World.
We stocked up when it became available. Luckily we have an almost infinite amount of storage space.
If anyone is not well stocked with that stuff by now……
Based on what I’ve observed over the last few years, most people should be OK.
Fill a glass jar with cold tap water. Add four squares of toilet paper. Put on lid. Shake three times. Let stand.
The contents should look like skim milk with nothing left of the sheets. If the sheets are in tact and the water looks clear, don't use that toilet paper brand.
Our garage looks like a paper towel, toilet paper warehouse from that last go around. 😄
We just stocked up on some paper products, no issues getting them here.
Harbor freight sells great rags that will outlast you. Amazon sells Chefs cotton linen dish towels (the kind with the blue stripe) for real cheap. Those are all commercial kitchens use, and they use them for everything. Hot pads, cover food, covering dough, wiping down counters, bar towels, hand towels, etc....They clean up nicely with a load of regular laundry. They also will outlast you. $15 for a dozen. 100% cotton linen. You can also get them in a terry cloth weave.
Ditto. Our give-away is this week. I don’t think we’ve bought paper products since 1983. Garage is full too. We stock the mailman, landscape guy, UPS driver, and church.
Do your garden a favor. Compost your used paper towels in your compost heap. (unless you soaked up grease). The worms just love the lingen/ fibers. It’s just about the only way a paper towel breaks down. Process way is massive solution of sodium hypochlorite, which is expensive and not good for you or the environment.
