I read that at some point Sinclair realized he and everyone else were being used as pawns by Russian intelligence. When he discussed coming out with the real story his wife told him if he did, they’d kill him. The average person had no idea just how personally dangerous being in politics was at the time. By the time they did, it was too late to extricate themselves.
Yeah, Sinclair is not a good person to quote. He lied, lied and lied some more for the “common good” and to sell books.
He may well have been a liar and an evil person generally, but he hit the nail on the head with that quote.
