The Chinese prefer an EMP attack over Nukes because there is no damage to crops or infrastructure with an EMP. Just dispose of the bodies after about 6 months.

I don’t know about an EMP attack, or biological weapons, etc., but as a propaganda weapon it has succeeded. China has shown that Biden’s American is impotent.

But I can't help but wonder about this being all-too-convenient.
I am not as “excited” about this as some seem to be given that China Airlines and others fly all over our nation for both passenger and air cargo operations.
However, many nations have lasers that would be very capable of destroying a balloon since they are designed to destroy satellites in low-earth orbit (far higher than this).
The Russians successfully put one in a cargo aircraft and I believe we had the same thing or were trying the same capability and we have tested these from modified aircraft as well.
I would believe that our Air Force has this capability because anti-satellite operations are crucial to modern warfare against a near-peer adversary. Space Force for the win?

Any sufficiently powerful EMP weapon would require detonation of a specific type of nuclear explosion. This would be extremely heavy and would emit a radiation signature that would be easily detected by our own satellites long before it crossed our shores. Using a slow, large, visible balloon to carry such a device would be ridiculous. Time to knock off the comical hysteria which no doubt has the Chinese ROTFLOL.
As far as I know only China has the Neutron Bomb and has twice tested it over Uyghur villages back in the late 80s, early 90s. Worked just fine.
